Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Here's my take on some St. Paddy's day nails that you can try out! You'll definitely get noticed with these nails done up!

Here's what you'll need:
(left to right) Essie - Shake your $$ Maker
Orly Instant Artist - Platinum Glitter
OPI - Don't Mess with OPI
Stripe Rite - Black
China Glaze - Kiwi Cool-ada
Stripe Rite - White
A small brush, and the small size on the #1 dotter (Daniel Stone)

To start I painted on a base coat of China Glaze - Kiwi Cool-ada. I had to use about 3 coats to get it to not be see through.

I then started with my thumb, because that one would be the hardest. I wrote "Kiss Me, I'm Irish" on it using my Stripe Rite - White. It was a little harder than most nail art because it's writing free hand. This definitely takes practice!

*TIP* When writing letters stick to capital letters. They're easier to do and most of them are just connected straight lines (except for "S"-_-)! With a steady hand most capital letters are very easy to write!

From there I went to the next hardest which was the four leaf clover on my pinky. To make the clover, start off with a small, fat heart. Then on either side of that heart, connect two other small, fat hearts. By the time you've done those you just have to add the two small bumps at the bottom!

*TIP* GO SLOW! Don't rush it. Yes it may take you an hour to do your nails, but it's so worth it in the end!

On my ring finger I used my small size on the #1 dotter to make small four leaf clovers. To make them dot the polish on the nail and swipe it out a little. Do this for each one to create a leaf effect! Then to add some sparkle I put a little of the Orly Instant Artist - Platinum Glitter in each one.

I then added some Deborah Lippmann - One Short day on my pointer finger for some sparkle!

I hope the luck of the Irish treats you all well this weekend and Monday!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

First one back!

So for my first post back, I decided not to do anything too crazy, but still looked cool! It's got a tribal feel, but it's very simple, and very easy for anyone to do!

I started off with a base colour of Essie Lapiz of Luxury.

Along with the Stripe Rite nail art polishes, I've discovered I really like the Quo Instant Artists! The brush may not be as skinny as I'd like, but the colours are awesome and for a good price! For this one I used Foil Silver by Quo Instant artist to draw triangles starting from my cuticle, pointing to the end of my nail.

Next I used White Stripe Rite to outline the silver triangles (see thumb). After I drew a single line down the middle of the triangle (see pointer finger). Then I drew two lines on either side of the first line I drew (see middle and ring finger).

I finished off with my new favourite top coat Seche Vite. It leaves your nails so shiny and drys very quickly, so it's good for the nail artist on the go!

I'll be posting every Sunday or Monday. Keeping my posts to once a week might help me keep blogging longer!

I'm Back!

Well it's been over a year since my last post, but I really needed a break from going nail crazy!

UPDATE!

I now work as a salon assistant at a hair salon in my area and I'm currently studying to become a hair stylist! It's hard to do fancy nails because washing hair at work ruins them. But I've decided to start posting again! So if you have any requests do let me know, I'd love to help out!

Here's what I've done in the past few months, nothing too crazy, but still fun!

I'll be making my first new post next weekend (hopefully)! So keep coming back for more DIY nails!

Disney Princess

I know it's been over a month since I've last posted, but lately I've been lacking motivation to blog! I just need some time of regular nail painting to get over this. I did these nails a while ago but I'm just posting them now.

Everyone wants to be a princess! So why not put them on your nails? When I did these, everyone loved them! They're definitely a little more advanced than my other nails, and they take a little more time because they're very detail oriented. But I have faith that you guys can master them!

I started off with painting most of my nails Essie Sand Tropez, with the exception of my middle finger and pinky which are Bourgese Yellow and OPI Gargantuan Green Grape. For this had I chose to represent Mulan, Snow White, Belle, Jasmine and Tiana.
There's no easy way to describe how I did these! There's no technique, except keep your hands steady. You really need a good imagination to get all the colours and images right! For Mulan, I did her behind a fan, the apple for Snow White, I chose to do the rose in the case for Belle, Jasmines blue headband and the frog princess for Tiana.
For my other hand, I started off with mostly Essie Sand Tropez, but used China Glaze Spontaneous and OPI I Vant to be a Lone-star for my middle and pinky finger. On this had I decided to go with Pocahontas, Ariel, Rapunzel, Aurora, and Cinderella.
For Pocahontas I drew her necklace with her arm markings in the back, I painted Ariel's shell bra, the sun mosaic for rapunzel, Auroras pink dress and Cinderellas glass slipper.

There you have it! With lots of patience and practice these will be super easy for you!

I'll try to post more, but I've got a full time job now so I don't have as much time to myself! You can definitely expect a post once a month though!

Peanuts

First of all, Happy 2013! Hope everyone had a safe and happy New Years! To start off the new year, why not do a post about one of the most famous comics! Peanuts!

For the base colours I used Sally Hansen Pacific Blue on my thumb, China Glaze Secret Peri-wink-le on my ring finger and OPI The "It" Colour on the rest of my nails.

Next I used Misa Nail Art Point of No Return to outline all my designs. For Snoopy, I started with the shape of his head and then added his ear and neck. For Woodstock I started off with his nose and first flick of hair, the rest was super easy after that. Snoopy's doghouse was also pretty simple, just a few lines. And then the stripe on Charlie Browns shirt was just a chevron pattern, I did them free hand but you can use tape if you'd like!

And to finish it off I added colour to bring them to life! I used Misa Nail art Going Co-co Nut for snoopy, Misa Nail art Crazy Hanana to define woodstock. Then used Misa Nail Art Sexy Back for the dog house!

For these I copied pictures of the characters I saw on the internet. Photos are a great way to do nail art. It's like one of those "copy the photo" with the grids you used to do when you were younger! except there's no grid... and it's a lot easier to mess up. But who cares! As long as you take your time, you'll be a pro before you know it!
