Off to the Desert!

So here I am sitting in the Toronto International Airport, waiting to board my flight. On my flight here I read Catching Fire, which is the second book in the Hunger games series. IT'S AWESOME.

I decided that while I hang out here, I'll give you guys a sneak peak of my next post that I'll be doing while in Arizona!

HERE IT IS:

ROOOOAAAARRRR... wrong animal I know, but you'll be getting lots of animal ideas!

I can't wait to get on this plane, and land in Phoenix... Hope you guys have a lovely reading week!

Lots of love,

Mackenzie

DIY: Sally Hansen Salon Effects

So! Thanks to the gorgeous and awesome Andrea Jacobsen who took these photos, I can show you guys step by step how to apply the Sally Hansen Salon effects nail polish strips.

It's not that hard, but there's a few secrets you should know that the instructions don't say.

Step 1:

- First you want to prep your nails. Get rid of all the gross old nail polish, clean up your cuticles and file your nails.
- You want to clean your nails again with nail polish remover after you've done this to remove any other excess nail gunk and oils.

Step 2:

- Use the pink filing stick they give you. To shape your nails, use the hot pink, rough side.
- After you've shaped your nails, use the white side of the board to buff your entire nail. This will get the nail ready for the nail polish strip you're about to use.
- Before you start putting the nail polish strips on size them to your nails and lay them out. This will ensure that you get the right size for each nail and you won't run out.

Step 3:

- Next, peel the nail strip off the white backing it came with and press onto your nail. Make sure that you center it before pressing it down completely.
- When you've got the right place on your nail, smooth the strip down with your finger first, and then with the wooden stick they provide to ensure a sealed stick.

Step 4:

- Smooth the end of the nail polish strip over your nail.

- Use the light pink side of the filing board to "cut" off the end of the nail polish strip that you just folded over your nail.

- Just pull the nail polish strip away from your nail and it should come right off leaving a clean cut.

Step 5:

- To remove the rest of the nail strip from your nail, use the pointy end of the wooden stick and trace your cuticles. This with cut the nail polish strip so you can remove the excess from your finger.

VOILA! That's all you have to do!

The Nail strips come in plenty of different shapes, patters, sparkles and colours so you can match any outfit!

I find that one manicure usually lasts 7-10 days. The trick to lasting the full 10 days is to add a top coat on top of the nail strips. This locks the nail strip in place so it doesn't peel off your nail.

You can also add your own twist to these nail strips because they're made with real nail polish! As you can see here I added little red hearts.

I hope you guys find these instructions helpful! It took me a few times to finally master the application of these things.

Thanks for reading!

Lots of love,

Mackenzie
